OWBA Breakfast Series: South Ottawa Economic Development and Your Business

The Osgoode Ward Business Association (OWBA) has been working hard to make sure that rural economic development is a priority for the City of Ottawa. We formed OWBA to represent businesses in the Osgoode Ward to all three levels of government to:

  • Lower hydro rates
  • Bring natural gas to the area
  • Improve communications services ( Bell Fibe coming to Greely)
  • Bring traffic lights and intersection improvements to the Ward
  • Assisted with business signage issues
  • Working on Rideau and Bank Intersection
  • Build better business to business communication
  • Help bring new business to the area

The City of Ottawa is working on rural economic development in the south end of Ottawa. Now that the Transportation Master Plan and Official Plan Amendment is underway, we have invited the City of Ottawa to speak to business in our community to make sure that we understand what is happening in our area and in the City of Ottawa.

OWBA has joined forces with a number of BIAs and Community Groups in the area to form a working group to provide important feedback on Transportation Master Plan and the Official Plan of Amendment. We invite all of you to come and hear what the City of Ottawa Staff is planning before they put shovels in the ground in your backyard.

OWBA invites you, and every business in the ward, to come to Orchard View Wedding & Event Centre on Tuesday January 15th, at 8am to hear from the City of Ottawa. The Official Plan for the City of Ottawa is only amended once every 5 years, making this a crucial time to provide your input for rural economic development and development in the City.

This is the future of south Ottawa, OWBA wants to work with you to make sure that our local business community has a say in our economic development plans.
