People in Ottawa and area are urgently needed to give blood by Aug. 26, before the Labour Day long weekend, to help meet patients’ needs this summer.
Summer is a slower time for blood donations because regular donors are often away or busy with summer activities. We know that Labour Day weekend will be a particularly challenging time to fill our clinics. That’s why we’re urging all eligible donors to give blood by Aug. 26.
Blood donations made by Aug. 26 will help ensure we have enough blood to meet patient needs for the rest of the summer.
All donors are urged to get involved, particularly donors with Type O blood. O-negative blood is the only type compatible with all other blood types. In an emergency, when seconds count and there is no time to check blood type, patients receive O-negative blood.
There is a blood donor clinic in Greely this Wednesday, August 15th from 4pm to 8pm at the Parkway Church.
I encourage all eligible donors to attend the clinic and to give blood. It's in you to give!
